Flexible layout and fast construction in existing context

Since 1994, the building of the City Archive was located in the east of Leipzig in the district of Volkmarsdorf. Due to a lack of space, a move to Hall 12 of the Old Exhibition Grounds was planned - also known as the Soviet Pavilion.

This had stood empty for almost 20 years and was to become home to the future city archive. A partial demolition was carried out and the new construction began with technical assistance from Peikko using various products – steel composite columns, DELTABEAM® composite beams and anchor bolts were installed.

To ensure a flexible design of the premises and at the same time to enable a fast progress of the construction, the focus was put on predominantly assembly-ready solutions. Therefore, the above mentioned product solutions were used in combination with hollow-core slabs.

After the demanding relocation of the archive, the opening took place in October 2019.
