Modern campus architecture featuring DELTABEAM® and MODIX®

With the construction of a new multifunctional teaching, seminar and administration building, a new campus centre and a central meeting place for students, lecturers and staff has been created on the campus of FH Westküste in Heide. As the first major construction project on the site in 25 years, the building represents an important milestone in the ongoing modernisation of the campus.

DELTABEAM® Composite Beams and the MODIX® Rebar Couplers from Peikko were used for the structural solution. Above the lecture hall area, a span of almost 16 metres was achieved using DELTABEAM®. At the same time, the structure was designed to be very slim, with a beam height of just 51.5 centimetres. The integrated composite beams allow for column-free spaces, thereby supporting the building’s architectural flexibility.

The MODIX® Rebar Couplers ensured a secure and efficient connection of the reinforcement and contributed to a cost-effective construction process.

The high-quality architecture, featuring open façades, flexible lecture hall and connection to the outdoor terrace, creates versatile learning and event spaces. The concept is complemented by sustainable measures such as a photovoltaic system, a green roof and the energy-efficient modernisation of adjacent campus buildings.

The project was completed ahead of schedule, free of defects and within budget, and serves as a prime example of the combination of architectural quality, functional flexibility and cost-effective structural engineering.
